Speech therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on treating speech and language disorders of all ages. Speech-language pathologists work with individuals to diagnose and treat communication delays and disorders. These professionals help clients improve their speech, language, voice, fluency, and cognition skills through various exercises and techniques tailored to each person's needs.
-
Speech therapy can benefit a wide range of individuals facing various challenges. Areas of challenges include speech sound disorders, language delays, social communication disorders, fluency disorders, and augmentative and alternative communication.
-
A speech therapy session can vary by assessment, goal-setting, targeted activities to address specific communication goals, feedback, home practice, progress monitoring, parent coaching, education on communication strategies, and emotional support.
-
Sessions typically last 30-45 minutes with frequency varying on individual needs. The last 5 minutes of each session will typically include parent training to teach carryover skills at home.
-
While speech-language pathologists can work with all ages, our team specializes with ages 12 months-22 years old.

At this time, we are in network with BCBS, CIGNA, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. For other insurances, we are able to provide a SuperBill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. We always recommend contacting your insurance company to determine your coverage prior to your child’s first session.
-
No referral is needed! With private pay services, sessions are child-focused and customized to your child’s specific needs. Therapy is also family-centered with private pay. Private pay services do not restrict the number or type of sessions your child will receive.

A superbill is a document used in medical practices to detail the services provided to a patient during a visit. It typically includes information such as the healthcare provider's name and credentials, the patient's demographics, the date of service, and a list of services provided along with corresponding billing codes. Superbills are used for billing purposes, insurance claims, and record-keeping, and they help facilitate the reimbursement process by providing a clear breakdown of services rendered.

Although we would love to give you a definite answer, there isn’t one. The number of sessions depends on several factors: the type and severity of the communication disorder, the goal of therapy, the client's progress, and their commitment to practicing the techniques outside of sessions. It is important to follow the speech-language pathologist’s guidance and attend sessions consistently to maximize the benefits of speech therapy.
